Distributed Model
Hotelgears is based on a
Distributed Model
platform which means your information can be accessed from the Hotelgears cloud regardless of whether the system
is hosted in the
cloud or on-premises on site using the Hotelgears' Overdrive Appliance.
Distributed Services
Hotelgears is accessible in two styles - hosted and on-premise. Generally, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) applications are considered to be hosted.
This means the system is located on servers within an Internet cloud (known as Cloud Computing). Our hosted services are called Manual and Automactic,
and requires no software installed on your computer system. Also, you won't have to purchase or maintain servers or backups,
and you can take advantage of power savings. Due to our redundant datacenters, you will experience 99% uptime from Hotelgears.
If you prefer the system to be on-premise at the business location, we offer a service called Overdrive. Overdrive is an on-premise appliance that hosts Hotelgears on the local area
network at the hotel - everything operates the same as the hosted service (in the cloud). The benefit for you is you're always up and running, even if the Internet is down.
In the event that the Overdrive appliance has a failure, next day (US only) replacement service is available.

Distributed Data: Backup Protection
Use the Manual service or Automatic service, and your data is redundantly stored in multiple physical
locations as part of normal operation — all at no additional charge. Data is stored several
times across multiple data centers upon creation and then actively replicated further
in the event of unavailability. Use Overdrive and your data can be backed up locally
at your hotel as often as 24 times per day along with a full daily backup. Plus, all financial data will be replicated
to the Hotelgears cloud servers when the end-of-day process is performed.
